We only have one pair of eyes and it makes sense to look after them. Regular eye tests not only check for your prescription but also test for any underlying problems such as diabetes, glaucoma, cataracts and macular degeneration to name a few. With the latest equipment including computerised eye testing chart, retinal imaging camera and visual field testing we make sure that you're eyes are given the full MOT.
Our retinal camera allows us to take photos of the back of your eyes so we're able to examine the vital structures of the eye in more detail. Images taken by our camera gives us a wealth of information about your general well being. We can pick up diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, age realated macular degeneration and glaucoma. Your images are stored so that your eye health can be monitered from one visit to the next.
With so many of us spending time on the computers eye strain and visual fatigue is becoming a major problem. We work with many companies to provide eye care for their employees and also accept eyecare vouchers. We also run our own scheme and are happy to talk to employers wishing to set up an eyecare solution for their staff.
When it comes to eye health children cannot be ignored. In today's computer age children spend a vast amount of time on their computer whether at home or at school. As their eyes continue to develop it is extremely important to have them regular checked. Often children will not complain when they can't see well and parents will often assume that their child's vision is fine and there is nothing wrong. A routine eye test will rule out any problems. It is well known that vision and learning are closely linked and the earlier the problem is detected the earlier we can rectify it.
Under the NHS all children under the age of 16 and those that are in full time education and are under 18 are entitled to a free eye test (conditions apply)
There is a huge range of fashionable eyewear available at Hemel Opticians should your child need glasses. Alternatively talk to us about the possibility of contact lenses for your child and open up their world.
